It All Started With an Idea That Turned Into a Product.

As a skier, I struggled with conventional ski pole straps for years—to the point where I often avoided using them altogether. But without the straps, I knew I wasn’t getting the full performance and control from my poles.

As a volunteer ski patroller, I had also seen too many shoulder and thumb injuries associated with being strapped to ski poles.

So, the engineer in me decided to do something about it.

In 2024, I came up with an idea that I jokingly called my “0.1% chance of success.” That idea quickly turned into a prototype, then a second, then a third. After many iterations, refinements, and countless hours of testing, a mature prototype finally emerged.

Throughout the winter of 2025, the prototype was tested on the slopes by expert skiers, fellow ski patrollers, and retailers. The feedback was incredible—from “I love it” and “It really works” to people simply enjoying the satisfying click-clickfeel of the system.

One year later, that original idea has become a product I am incredibly proud of: AKAEI™, with a patent pending.

As a proud Canadian, I wanted to maximize Canadian content wherever possible. Key components are manufactured in Montreal, with final assembly taking place in Ottawa.

What started as a 0.1% chance is now AKAEI™.
